APPROUCH NELSON MANDELA’S ACHIEVEMENTS WITH MINIMUM CELEBRATIONS BECAUSE ITS NOT YET UHURU !

Nelson  Mandela
As the death of Nelson Mandela a liberation icon was met with dance and music as some did this as a memorial of his landmark accomplishments I however believe we should approach his achievements with minimum celebrations. An assessment of the level of human development in southern Africa in light of the standards that Nelson Mandela championed shows that a lot still needs to be done. If we are to talk about the end of apartheid, yes we were freed but if we are to talk about economic upliftment of the masses, then its not yet uhuru!
To me emancipation isn’t just political but its one that is inclusive of  other factors like economic and social upliftment. Over and above political rights the masses needs  access to resources. Taking real estate as an example one can clearly see that we are still far from uhuru. There is a serious need for deliberate efforts to address the devastating effects of the liquidity crunch on the masses’ financial capabilities to purchase properties. Amongst these unemployment is highest, they neither save nor have credit worthiness that enables access to mortgage finance. They are victims of fraudulent housing programs that leverage upon their financial disability through offering cheap deals that are below market values.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF SAM LEVY

Many new property owners aspire to walk in the footsteps of success left behind by such property tycoons like Sam Levy. Depending with local laws these ambitious investors try to change property use to commercial ones and of late nursery schools. Such ambition is noble but should be attached to the wisdom that buoyed renowned achievers. This insight is that getting the most income is something a property cannot do by itself but the owner is also involved

BOGUS HOUSING COOPERATIVES - SOME CONSIDERATIONS ON HOW TO IDENTIFY THE CONMEN .

A JCB destroying an illegal structure in Harare West.
Many desperate home seekers are losing thousands of dollars in bogus housing cooperatives and projects in Harare, Bulawayo and else where. The conmen bombard laypeople with an avalanche of jargon like monthly subscriptions, top up, endowment fees, registration fees etc  but we however know that all these refer to just one thing which is money. Isnt it ironic that a  real state deal for a mere 300sq m demands the entire dictionary to describe money were as one for thousands of sq meters like those we sometimes do has two or three words for money in the agreement of sale.

SOME REASONS WHY YOUR MONEY CANT BUY YOU A DECENT HOME !

As property prices rise in Zimbabwe, some exasperated home seekers have accused estate agents of price fixing. This however, is farfetched because even the central government with all its unrivalled might in virtually every sphere of life has failed to do this. Estate agents are even smaller and minute economic entities who lack meaningful stamina to achieve this. In this presentation I  have given some reasons why many find the going tough with regards to property prices and have offered some advice that is both practical and helpful.
